Database Specialist (Marine Data) - Seattle, WA Position Description Will work as part of a data team to develop and deploy data processing capabilities in support of fisheries scientific research. Will design and interacting with traditional relational databases such as Postgresql, Oracle, and SQLite. Will perform quality assurance and control on datasets and processes. Will process underwater video data; marine data such as oceanographic datasets; as well as more traditional tabular-based data. Will work as part of a larger data team, working closely with a mentor to learn the nuances of our NWFSC data, and then be expected to perform independently. Required Skills 2+ years of experience in designing and interacting with traditional relational databases such as Postgresql, Oracle, and SQLite. Must be well-versed in software languages such as python, R, or JavaScript with the ability to manipulate data from one form to another. Experience with quality assurance and control on datasets and processes, required. Must have experience processing video data as well as more traditional tabular-based data. Must also have experience explicitly processing marine data such as oceanographic datasets or underwater video data. Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility. Education BS in Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent.
