Technology Support Services (TSS) is the central IT organization for Shoreline Community College, providing critical technology support and managing IT infrastructure and services, including academic and collaborative applications, administrative systems and information management, classroom technology, computing infrastructure, information security, networking, and telecommunications. TSS supports of the goals of the Shoreline Community College strategic plan by facilitating innovation, learning, leadership and growth in the application of technology. Under the general direction of the TSS Director, the Information Technology Specialist 3 (ITS3) supports the faculty, staff, and students of the college by performing moderately complex system integration and maintenance tasks at the division/department level. This includes designing, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing specialized systems and labs. Essential Job Duties: • Receive daily, weekly, and monthly assignments via the TSS Work Order Database, assigned by TSS team members monitoring the TSS Helpline or directly from end users, TSS team members, or supervisor. • Troubleshooting and resolving moderately complex technical issues in an enterprise network computing environment. Reporting completed assignments via the TSS Work Order Database. • Manage and maintain campus computer labs. Update/replace machine hardware and software on a routine schedule. Create, update, and employ master lab images using Windows Deployment Server (WDS) as needed. • Create, deploy, monitor, and maintain programs and applications to campus machines via System Center Configuration Manager server. • Administer, manage, update, and maintain Pharos Uniprint Server, release stations and printers campus-wide. Manage SCC-license server WDS server. • Manage and maintain network print servers and printers, including SCC Testing Center machines and printers. • Conduct Internet research on vendor support, vendor forums, and blog sites to find technical solutions and resolve issues. Contact hardware/software vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues. • Consult with faculty, staff, coworkers, division/department heads, vendors, and other stake holders to design, deploy, and maintain technologies necessary for the academic and business functions of the college, including the implementation of specialized program specific systems and computer labs. • Assist desktop technicians in the troubleshooting and repair of moderately complex hardware, software, and networking related problems. Escalate more complex problems to senior level technicians providing relevant high quality diagnostic and logging information. • Collaborate with other TSS staff with input from TSS clients in the development, maintenance, and documentation of desktop and portable computing device installation standards. Attend weekly staff meetings and tech trainings. • Create and manage Active Directory Users, Groups Computers and Organizational Units. Create manage and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPO's) in Active Directory. • Provide desktop, printer, network and wireless network support for faculty, staff and students campus wide as needed. • Other duties as assigned of a similar level/nature REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Four (4) years of information technology experience such as analyzing, designing, installing, programming, and/or maintain computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment and providing customer/technical support in information technology. KNOWLEDGE OF: • Current desktop operation systems, software, hardware, and networking deployed in an enterprise environment. • Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server administration. • Windows System Center Configuration Manager, Windows Deployment Services, and computer imaging/deployment technologies. • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technologies. • Microsoft Office Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word programs. SKILL IN: • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence. • Troubleshooting and resolving moderately complex technical problems. • Translating complex technical concepts in laymen's terms and maintaining appropriate documentation. • Learning and applying new and emerging technologies. • Time management, organization, and ability to meet competing deadlines/priorities. • Entering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems. • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound independent judgment within College/legal guidelines. • Writing/editing/proofreading clear and concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication with individuals inside and/or outside of the College. • Establishing/maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels. • Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner.
