If you're a MySQL expert with a focus on database performance improvement and strong communication skills, we have a great role for you.  One of our partners (one of Seattle's most interesting mid-size startups) is undertaking a significant effort to improve MySQL performance across the enterprise - you'd be working with a number of development teams, helping them evaluate and improve their current database infrastructure, setup, and deployment. You'd both make recommendations and act on those recommendations, and see your work in production.  Responsibilities Work with engineering teams to understand and evaluate their current MySQL infrastructure Recommend and implement performance improvement to indices, queries, database structure, etc. Provide strategic guidance on data layout, caching, etc. Requirements 3+ years as a MySQL expert in a production-facing, very-large-scale database environment  Specific experience optimizing performance, evaluating indices, etc. 5+ years general production database experience Strong cross-team communication skills, including the ability to work well with software engineering teams This is a contract role - likely 3-6 months, depending on need.
