Threat Research Analyst
Job Label: WEBR-ThreatMalwareAnalyst
Webroot is actively seeking Threat Research Engineer. This role is based in Broomfield, Colorado. The successful candidate should be detailed orientated, self-directed, highly self-motivated, and have an information security mindset.
In this role you will:
Utilize proprietary databases, tools and technologies to assist in classifying malware
Collaborate with multiple internal engineering and cross-functional teams in relation to technical analysis of malware and delivery methods to further improve efficacy
Enhance data management infrastructure for research
Analyze and compile data for comprehensible delivery to other teams
Analyse malware and recognize new trends to assist in characterizing
Perform efficacy testing against various malware types
Sustain an in-depth knowledge of all evolving security trends, approaches, vulnerabilities, and remediation techniques

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
2 + years’ experience and an active interest in IT Technology (preferably analytical/problem solving or information security)
Fluent with PHP and/or other server-side programming languages
Strong analytical skills, the ability to identify new trends based on incoming data streams
Strong ability to communicate and work in a collaborative environment
Experience with malware preferable, understanding the different types of malware and their delivery methods and characteristics
Windows-specific knowledge is a MUST, including:
Understanding of Windows file/folder structures for all current Windows Operating Systems and file access methods
Some Knowledge of the Windows Registry
Some Knowledge of Windows Security features, AMSI, user privileges, etc.
Some Knowledge of network protocols
Knowledge of Virtualization software (VMWare, vSphere, Virtual Box, etc.)
Knowledge of sandboxing, usage and implementation
Additional possible SKILLS:
Experience using source control management (Git preferred)
C, C++, C#
API usage/implementation and development
Experience with AWS
